Financial Assistance Program for Patients with Cancer, Kidney Disease, Liver Cirrhosis, Stroke-induced Paralysis, Thalassemia, and Congenital Heart Disease

Project information

Description:

A financial assistance program for patients suffering from cancer, kidney disease, liver cirrhosis, stroke-induced paralysis, thalassemia, and congenital heart disease was launched in the 2013–14 fiscal year. Under this initiative, impoverished patients suffering from these conditions are identified through the collaborative efforts of the Department of Social Services, local administration, public representatives, and community members. Following established guidelines, a list of truly needy and destitute individuals is compiled, and the program is implemented accordingly. Subject to the availability of budget, medical assistance of BDT 50,000 (fifty thousand) is provided to each impoverished patient suffering from cancer, kidney disease, liver cirrhosis, stroke-induced paralysis, thalassemia, or congenital heart disease. This support helps the patients' families manage medical expenses and assists the patients in returning to a healthy, normal life.
